DAY 7: SOLITUDE
It’s our last gratitude theme. We learn a lot through our lonely roads and journeys. Sometimes, God needs to strip away all distractions to get our attention. it can be a season or a moment. It can be a mountaintop experience or a valley. Sometimes, it’s only in the solitude that we learn to see Him standing there beside us.
Quarantine and lockdowns hit the extroverted hard, I would say. It was a season where God has really taught me how much I value human connection, but He has also used this solitude and time to speak to my heart. And in those moments, I have heard Him clearly. There were plenty of moments of brokenness, anguish and joyful clarity.
As we are concluding this gratitude challenge, I want to share a song that my mom shared with me that brought me so much comfort in these tough and uncertain times: “There Was Jesus” by Zach Williams and the iconic Dolly Parton.
He is there in the “pain and the hurting”, “where I’ve been and where I am going.”
How have you seen God in moments of solitude? Did He whisper something to your heart in a moment of quiet away from the chaos?
As we continue to journey toward a new year, let us never forget that today, every minute, every moment– Jesus is right here. Immanuel, “God with us”. There is nothing else more precious than the presence of the Savior.
“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20
