Priscilla B.

Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: I was born in Abeliene, Texas, but was raised in Lansing Michigan, the beautiful four-season state! I grew up in a very dysfunctional home, living in 17 different houses, but God always provided.

As I look back, I see that God’s hand was on my life, and I’m thankful that it was because, at age 13, I was questioning if I [was] miscarrying. I didn’t know what happened to my body. At age 14, I stood before a judge and lied to protect my family. At age 15, I was trapped for almost 4 years in a relationship I thought was love. And then in my early 20s… Well, I took the road less traveled. No matter what happened, no matter what I did or didn’t do, Jesus never stopped pursuing me. He didn’t run away from my messy life.

In fact, He stepped right into it and stayed. Jesus gave up His life so that I could live. He forgave me, so I forgive others. Those forgiven much, love much. Those who have needed to be forgiven much, understand this well. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. There is no sin that is too big that He won’t forgive. God loved us so much, He gave up His only Son because God is love. Love requires us to let others know, we are not alone. And you, my friends, are not alone. Whatever it is you face, if you’re struggling with sin, dealing with life’s negative circumstances or just feel like something in your life is missing– Jesus is the answer. I can’t wait to see Him face to face.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: I wouldn’t just say this is just a moment verse, but [it’s] a verse I cling to and love: Romans 8:28.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Currently, I’d say that God is helping me with and when things are out of my control.

Profession: Worship & Events Director at Rivers Of Life Church, Sexual Abuse and Rehabilitation Advocate and national motivational speaker!

If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be? ReMarKAble. I’m currently writing one!

When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter Him? I was raised in church, but my first real encounter was in junior high at youth camp during a worship set. I knew there was more to my life and the more was him, Jesus. I also heared a sermon on forgiveness and that day changed my life!

How has your relationship with Him changed you? I feel like Jesus changed my heart and my mind. My perspective on life and people changed. It all changed for the better because I found hope. Hope, to me, is a person. His name is Jesus.

“Hope, to me, is a person. His name is Jesus.”

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? The Word of God has for sure helped me grow, but I would also say, my Godly friendships have helped me grow. Accountability is key to growth, and I’m so thankful for that!

“Accountability is key to growth, and I’m so thankful for that!”

Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): I’m currently reading Drawing Near by John Brevere. It’s teaching me how much God longs for intimacy with His children and how He created us to long for intimacy with Him, too! Also, this book is on point regarding the Holy Spirit, how powerful He is and how the greatest invitation of all time has been offered to this world.

Top three essentials: Coffee, Jesus and French fries!

Hobby: Bike riding, playing basketball, singing, and decorating spaces.

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong? A.) Read the Word of God; B.) Pray; and C.) Accountability- Godly friendships.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want them to learn and apply the power of forgiveness. It’s the greatest gift Jesus gave us, and we in return can give to others.

How do you engage with your community? I’m a people person! I love meeting for coffee and talking through social media outlets. I serve my community as an advocate in the courts, [for those] who have been sexually abused, as well as a medical advocate.

I also volunteer and lead a group called REMARKABLE, for women ages 18-35. It’s a place where we meet God, ourselves and tap into our true God-given identity.

I believe we all get REdos with Jesus Christ. We are all MARKed with a purpose. And I believe that we all ABLE to reach that MARK. You put that together, and you get RE/MARK/ABLE.

Favorite holiday? Easter, because of what Jesus did on the cross! He made a way for us all to make it!

A goal you have? To finish my book! Auto biography-memoir.

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: We have family breakfast, and family birthdays are always a blast!

Thing you want to raise awareness about: I currently help both victims of crimes, as well as promote rehabilitation for those who commit crimes.

What does your morning routine consist of? I have at least two cups of coffee and some quiet time. Read, check emails and schedule.

What is on your nightstand? A bottle water, my Bible, and a candle!

Define Christianity in a sentence: Offering love to everyone. You might be the only Jesus people meet!
