DAY 3: MOVEMENT
By: Gabriela Yareliz Gonzalez, Editor of Modern Witnesses
It’s day three, and we are talking movement. I hope you will join us and share your lists of your favorite ways to move. How does movement inspire gratitude in you?
As always, I am grateful for you. I hope those of you outside of the United States participate and learn why so many of us love the holiday of Thanksgiving.
Wishing all of you a beautiful season of gratitude.
DAY 3: MOVEMENT

I have been so inspired by Amanda June Giannakos and her stories that show her moving while she waits for a flight or moving while coffee brews. She is always encouraging us to move in the everyday. Movement doesn’t need to have a specific designated time. It shouldn’t. Movement is something we should embrace every second we can engage in it. It has no place, no time, no restriction.
These are some ways in which I am grateful I can move:
Nothing cleanses my mind like a good, long, explorative walk. Flânerie is joy.
Flânerie: aimless or idle quality or state.
“Kierkegaard wrote of the importance of walking. ‘Above all,’ he told her (his sister-in-law) in 1847, ‘do not lose your desire to walk: Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.'” Stillness Is The Key by Ryan Holiday

I am a go-go-go kind of person. I used to be so full-speed-ahead that I wouldn’t even take the time to scan my body to see where I was holding in tension. Taking the time to stretch and do a body scan has helped me be more connected to myself, and therefore, I have improved the way I feel.
I have felt so amazing since I transitioned into low-impact exercise.

Movement is strength. It’s elevating, and it helps us honor our bodies.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
