Seven Days of Gratitude: Day 4

SHINING LIGHT
DAY 4: ART
By: Gabriela Yareliz Gonzalez, Editor of Modern Witnesses
Hi friends,
We are just past our halfway mark. I have *loved* seeing all of your incredible lists. For those of you who may have just joined us, this is how it works: I share my personal list, and I look forward to reading about your gratitude.
I hope you find this as uplifting as I did– a powerful reminder of all that is right.
As always, I am grateful for you. I hope those of you outside of the United States participate and learn why so many of us love the holiday of Thanksgiving.
Wishing all of you a beautiful season of gratitude.
xx
DAY 4: ART
“I believe that treating other people well is a lost art.” Tim Gunn
I am so grateful for the things that make us feel. My friend spoke to me recently about a book that she felt “awakened” her soul. It’s pretty magical when we experience or see things that make us dream or make our spirits soar or spark.
When something makes us feel– it’s art.
Below are some things that have made me feel:
Books
“A well-chosen book saves you from everything, including yourself.” F. Scott Fitzgerald
These were some of my favorites this year:
From the Ground Up by Howard Schultz
The Way of the Warrior by Erwin McManus
Stillness is the Key by Ryan Holiday
DANCING
I love watching the contestants of Dancing With the Stars. Watching this dance made me feel joy. It was epic.
MUSIC
Some of the songs that made me feel, this year:
Valerie
Speechless
God Is
Forever
Movie
Life Itself. This was a heavy movie. I cried like a baby. It moved me so deeply.
TV
A Million Little Things is a show that has captivated me. It’s complex and real. It deals with human relationships, the pain we carry and the secrets that change everything.
Humor/ Nostalgia
I am obsessed with the little aliens from Strange Planet.
The Kelly Oxford books have taken me back into my childhood memories.
