Today, Lindsey speaks to us about how God can reveal to us the people who aren’t good for us and the devotional that is speaking to her heart, right now.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: “So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone. Through him the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple sacred to the Lord; in him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

This passage has helped me when I am feeling unloved or unworthy. These words remind me who I belong to and what my purpose is — I belong to God and He has made me His dwelling place!

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Since I am in a season of waiting, I am focusing on savoring the little, seemingly insignificant moments God gives me. I am strengthening my relationship with Jesus so that, once the waiting is over, I can go out and live according to what His plan is for me!

“Since I am in a season of waiting, I am focusing on savoring the little, seemingly insignificant moments God gives me.”

Profession: I am a student [and] my goal is to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I want to help others with their pain and movement like so many physical therapists helped me!

A one sentence bio of yourself: A daughter of God, who aspires to be a shining light for the world.

When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter him? I have always been a Christian, but during my freshman year of high school, I started to take my faith more seriously. I began to see God in the everyday things and pray, more than ever. A series of good and bad events in my life led to an even stronger relationship with God!

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? I pray and talk with God constantly, so that I can learn to trust His timeline during this season of waiting. This has lead me to reading scripture and spending time with family and friends to make sure this time is spent well.

Just read/currently reading (and what it has taught you)? I am currently reading a scriptural devotional for women called I Choose The Sky, by Emily Wilson. The book is about women from scripture who chose to devote themselves to God, and I have learned so much from these women about love, service, and faith.

Top three essentials: Lip balm, a good book, and a warm drink!

How did God speak to you recently? After a difficult breakup, God really spoke to my heart. He showed me who is truly important in my life, and then, the people who aren’t good for me. He has challenged me in so many ways recently, but I know it’s all for a good reason!

“He showed me who is truly important in my life, and then, the people who aren’t good for me.”

Hobby: I love to run, read, and paint. They are all stress relievers for me, and I find them to be fun!

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong:
1) Read. The. Bible. It helps in so many ways.
2) Pray all day, every day. In order to have a strong relationship with God, you have to talk with Him! Make God the first priority!
3) Find people (friends or family or an adviser) who will help to strengthen your faith when you are struggling.

Favorite person in scripture? Jesus and Mary are obviously my favorites. But, I strive to live like Ruth; she was loyal, generous, and she loved passionately.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? When people look at me, I want them to see the joy on my face and know that God is good! I want to love people so well that they know God loves them because of my actions.

Favorite season? Fall is my favorite season by far! I love the colors, the cold air, the cute clothes, the amazing foods, and the holiday mood!

Favorite holiday? I love Thanksgiving! It’s such a good reminder to thank God for the many blessings in my life!

A dream you have? I want to have a husband and children of my own to love just as much as I love my parents and siblings. I love families, and I hope that this is in God’s plan for me!

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: My family buys a real Christmas tree every year that we decorate together while playing Christmas movies or music in the background! It brings so much joy to our house!

Question you will ask when you get to Heaven? Why do bad things happen to good people? And why do good things happen to bad people?

Thing you want to raise awareness about: I want everyone to realize the sanctity of life, in all stages! From conception to natural death, life is valuable!

What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? When I’m not at school, I usually wake up around 7 a.m. and read a book or the Bible, then I work on my blog. I also like to spend time with my family by eating breakfast together. I love slow mornings!

What is on your nightstand? My Bible, journal, glasses, a lamp, and a bottle of water.

Define Christianity in one sentence: Christianity is believing that God sent His Son to save the world, and living out what Christ has called us to do — which is to love one another.
