Inspiring biblical passage of the moment:

Commit your works to the Lord,
And your thoughts will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

I’ve been loving this verse lately because I’ve seen when you share with God your plans and you ask him for guidance, everything goes well. Now, this does not mean that all our plans will go the way we want them to go because we’ve prayed about it. Sometimes, God has to say “no”, but that is because He knows what’s best for you, and He has something better for you. We need to remember that God always looks at the bigger picture, and we, the majority of the time only focus on what’s in front of us. At the end of the day, God has everything under control!

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: As you know, we all have our New Year’s resolutions, and for me on the spiritual side, my main focus is to grow my relationship with my Creator. However, in my prayers, I ask God for the following: “Please give me your heart to love the way you love, to feel the way you feel, to forgive the way you forgive us. Give me your eyes to look at things and people, the way you look at them. I want your mouth, to speak firmly but with Love. Allow me to hear with your ears and think the way you think. Lord, I just want less of me and more of you.” This I could say, is the biggest desire of my heart. I want to be more like Jesus!

Profession: I provide administrative services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and I am the founder and creator of Distinctive Demoiselle— an online modest clothing store.

A one sentence bio of yourself: I am 23, happily married; I love God, fashion and my planner and wishes to encourage ladies to be distinctive in every way through Distinctive Demoiselle.

When did you first encounter God? I was born and raised at church, as a Christian. My mother (God bless her) did a great job at guiding us and teaching my siblings and I the Word of God and how to build a relationship with the Lord. I can say that at a very young age I encountered God. At a young age, I knew what it was to feel the presence of God. It’s awesome and nothing can compare. The best heritage that a parent can give to its children is to teach them who God is and guide them through a relationship with our Creator.

“At a young age, I knew what it was to feel the presence of God.”

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Reading this question made me smile because what has helped my spiritual growth are the struggles and battles. I’ve seen God’s hand through every struggle. Every struggle has taught me to trust Him, they’ve brought me closer to Him and more than anything they’ve allowed me to get to know my Creator at another level. The battles have made me realize that God is in control of every situation, and even if it seems like He is far away, He is with us and will never leave us alone. I am very grateful for what He has done for me, what He is doing and for what He will continue to do in my life and my family’s life.

“Every struggle has taught me to trust Him, they’ve brought me closer to Him and more than anything they’ve allowed me to get to know my Creator at another level.”

Just read/currently reading: Currently, I am teaching a class in a Theology Institute, and I am also the youth’s Sunday School teacher, so for the moment I am busy with reading the books associated with these classes and reading the bible. But, I would recommend all ladies to read the book called: Beauty Begins. It’s such a great book for everyone who wishes to make peace with their own reflection.

Top three essentials: Uh, I would say my Bible, I have a small Bible that I always like to carry with me, and it has been a blessing to open it and see God talking to me. In second place, my planner, which I need to have everywhere I go. In third place, my lip balm, just because!

How did God speak to you recently? I can say that God speaks to me every day, every time I read the scriptures, when I pray, when I think about him in the subway, bus, at work. He speaks to me at church, through worship and preaching. Praise God!

“I can say that God speaks to me every day, every time I read the scriptures, when I pray, when I think about him in the subway, bus, at work.”

Hobby: As a hobby, I love to organize while watching/hearing my favorite show. When I organize, I get very happy.

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: Pray, fast and read the Bible. You definitely need these three combined if you want to stay spiritually strong, and to be able to survive any spiritual battle. We need to remember that our strength is not enough, we need God every day and at all times in our lives. Therefore, the same way we feed ourselves with food and drink water to survive, we must feed our spirit with spiritual food (the word of God, prayers, fasting).

“We need to remember that our strength is not enough, we need God every day and at all times in our lives.”

Favorite person in scripture? David – Because I just love how the Bible describes him as a man after God’s own heart. God knew that David would fulfill all His will. Now, that’s amazing!

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want people to know that God is Love, and He is far from being this mean God that many people think he is. I want for people to see and even feel God’s love through me. I want everyone to understand that God is the solution. With God, we have it all, without him we have nothing.

“With God, we have it all, without him we have nothing.”

Favorite season? My favorite seasons are autumn and summer. I love autumn because of the beautiful colors that come up during that season. I love summer because there is so much you can do. Plus, the sun rises early and sets late, so you feel like the day is longer.

Favorite holiday? Definitely Christmas/New Year! Because it’s such a happy time. You get to spend time with your love ones, everywhere you go is so festive and everyone seems happy too (and stressed because of the gifts). Plus, since I live in Canada, Christmas is the only time that snow is really appreciated. Once Christmas and New Years is gone, we want summer to come ASAP! I really like New Years because it does feel like it’s a new year, and it’s time do some thinking about accomplishments and to create a new list of goals/resolutions. It really feels like it’s an opportunity to be a new you. Although, technically we should feel that every morning!

“It really feels like it’s an opportunity to be a new you.”

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: All I can think of is the yummy turkey my father prepares for Christmas and New Year. I remember one time he said he wasn’t going to make it, and it was such a big disappointment for everyone. He ended up making it! *laughs* But yes, he makes the best turkey I have eaten in my entire life! Kudos to my father, Carlos!

Question you will ask when you get to heaven? First of all, I think I’ll be so amazed by seeing Jesus, my savior, that I might even forget all the questions I wish to ask him. But, if I remember, I would love to ask him what he thought of me during my time in earth and other personal questions.

What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? Well, I wake up around 6:45 or 7 a.m., I go to the washroom to clean myself, then I get dressed, I do my morning prayer, drink some water, prepare my purse and get ready to leave to work. I get to the office around 8:15, turn on my computer, and then head to the kitchen to make my breakfast because by that time I am starving! Then, I just get ready for the craziness that normally starts at 9 a.m. because that’s the usual arrival time of all other staff.

Define Christianity in a sentence: A lifestyle that implies a relationship with God, who wants us to know Him, who offers us His unconditional love and salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior, the Son of God.
