Carolina H.

I know some pretty amazing women. These women are driven, filled with faith, and I feel there is so much we can learn from each one and her personal journey. These church ladies break all molds and reflect God beautifully in so many different ways.
Carolina has been a friend of mine for years (more than a decade). Her adventurous life and God’s plan has taken her across the globe. She is resilient, wicked smart, and she models lipstick to perfection. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Carol, as we call her, joining us all the way from Germany.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9.
Spiritual growth focus at the moment: My main focus is giving more of myself in service to God.
Profession: English Teacher
A one sentence bio of yourself: I am a super social person, always smiling and a lipstick fanatic.
When did you first encounter God? I got to know God when I was 15 years old. At that time, I didn’t feel a part of the world that I was living in, and I knelt and asked God to take me to a place where I belonged.
What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? What helps me the most is seeing such a real God in my life; to see that He exists and is not a fantasy; to see how He is guiding my life so perfectly.
Just read/currently reading: The Diary of Anne Frank.
Top three essentials: Any red lipstick (my favorite one: M.A.C Retro Matte Rubywoo), My phone, my alcohol gel.
How did God speak to you recently? I have heard His voice lately, giving me strength to face this new phase/new chapter that I am living, and I think that thanks to Him, I am living big changes in a very positive way. I feel His company daily, and I honestly think that it would be harder to be far from my family and country, without Him.
“I think that thanks to Him, I am living big changes in a very positive way. I feel His company daily.”
A hobby? Running
Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: Prayer; to me this is my main way to connect myself with God. And I don’t mean kneeling often and randomly, but to me it means to have a connection with Him at every moment, whether it means while you are on the bus, walking or if you are at the beach, etc. My next tip is to believe; I don’t think we gain anything by saying God is real if we don’t feel His presence, and to do that, we must learn about Him. And finally, to act; serving God is a consequence of our love for Him—it means wanting to share His love and truth with others and that makes our faith grow even more.
“I don’t think we gain anything by saying God is real if we don’t feel His presence, and to do that, we must learn about Him.”
Favorite person in scripture? Ruth
What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want them to see a God in which they can trust, a God that gives us joy even in the midst of difficult times.
Favorite season: Winter
Favorite holiday: September 18th (Chilean holiday). On this day, we roast food, we eat empanadas, we dance Cueca (Chilean dance), and we go out to the fields to fly kites.
A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: One of the main traditions in my family is to observe the 18th of September. Now that I am a newlywed, I will be celebrating it for the first time with my husband, who is German. I want to include this tradition in our new family.
Question you will ask when you get to heaven: This is a good but tough question because I have never thought of it. I think I would ask God why He treated me so kindly and tenderly, because even after I failed Him so many times, He never gave up on me.
Thing you want to raise awareness about: We are living in the last days (before the coming of Christ), and what is happening around us (wars, climate change, etc.) prove this.
What do you usually do before 9 a.m. (Mon.-Fri)? I pray, I prepare my breakfast, I go out for a run (not always, but often enough). 🙂
What is on your nightstand? I have a photo and tissues.
“Because even after I failed Him so many times, He never gave up on me.”
