I know some pretty amazing women. These women are driven, filled with faith, and I feel there is so much we can learn from each one and her personal journey. These church ladies break all molds and reflect God beautifully in so many different ways.

I met Taidé at the United Nations, about two years ago, for a Human Rights convention. She was visiting NYC from Mexico, and we instantly clicked. I had no idea that I would meet a fellow prayer warrior and spiritual sister that day, but I did. And today, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to her.

Biblical inspiration of the moment: It’s a combination of Psalm 23:6 and 27:4: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. One thing have I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord.”

Spiritual growth focus, at the moment: I want to be humble, and I want my scale or measure to be based on God’s character; I think that if I do that, I will be able to control my pride, which often leads me to esteem myself better than others.

“I want my scale or measure to be based on God’s character.”

Profession: Academic Adviser

One sentence bio: Idealistic woman who loves to get involved in causes that promote justice and equality for all people.

When did you first encounter God? I was 19 years old, and I was on a mission trip. It was there that I became very conscious of God. Since I was young, I served God in the religious sense, but I didn’t know Him. I remember that on that day He spoke to my heart. And it was then that I knew that I needed to get to know Him if I was to love Him deeply and truly.

“I knew that I needed to get to know Him if I was to love Him deeply and truly.”

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Having Godly friends, who love God deeply. This support has been indispensable for me because it has challenged me to be more disciplined, to have an open heart, so that through study and meditating on God’s Word and prayer, God may reveal to me that which can threaten my faith and also the true salvation that He has given me the privilege of knowing.

Currently reading: I recently finished reading Intercessory Prayer: How God Can Use Your Prayers to Move Heaven, by Dutch Sheets. I am also reading the book of Jeremiah and Galatians.

Top three essentials: Deepening my relationship with God; to be a blessing wherever God takes me; and to share and teach a Godly lifestyle.

How has God spoken to you recently? I was recently meditating on my study of the book of Galatians, and how our works should spring from love. Pride has truly been an obstacle for me in being able to share that kind of love with others.

A hobby? Reading, traveling and meeting people with similar ideals.

Top three tips for staying spiritually strong: I start off the day meditating on a Bible passage, I pray, I listen to Christian music during the day, and at night, I do a devotional.

Favorite person in scripture: Deborah

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want people to see His compassion and unconditional love.

Favorite season: Winter

Favorite holiday: Christmas

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: Thanksgiving and Christmas

Question you will ask when you get to heaven: I think I will be so excited and happy to be there that I will have no questions.

Thing you want to raise awareness about: Kari Jobe’s song, Sweep Me Away, says that I want God to sweep me away in His love; I want to have an awareness of His love for everyone.

“I want God to sweep me away in His love.”

What do you usually do before 9 a.m. (Mon- Fri)? I organize my bedroom; I get ready for work; I read my passage for the day; I meditate on Him and take notes; I pray, and then I head out to the office.

On your nightstand? My lamp, my Bible, and my iPad (which I use for worship music after I do my night devotional).
