Tierra S.

Today, Tierra speaks to us about a difficult season and how God helped her push through and accountability.

Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: I grew up in Texas with my mother and younger sister. My dad wasn’t very active in our life, as he had another family to tend to. He provided for us financially, but most times, it came with a cost.

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Walking out of fear and by faith into the promises of God.

When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter Him? My sophomore year in college, I had just left a very toxic and abusive relationship, and I was dealing with depression. I created a prayer closet in my apartment closet and began to really cry out to the Lord and seek Him for healing from depression, and God began to meet me in my closet and healed my broken heart. The scripture “He is close to the brokenhearted” became my reality.

How has your relationship with Him changed you? My relationship with Jesus has changed my life completely. He changed my mind and how I used to think.

“He changed my mind and how I used to think.”

What has been the darkest time in your life, and how did you see God in it? Last year, I moved out-of-state by the leading of Holy Spirit, and once I got settled, it felt like all hell broke loose. I wasn’t able to find a job, I ran through my savings, I lost someone to suicide and had to deal with grief alone in a new state. But through it all, God continued to wake me up and push me to keep going, and keep pressing on.

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? In this season having friends that hold me accountable, and being in a community of believers that push me past my fears has really helped me grow.

Just read/currently reading: Currently reading Deliverance from Demonic Covenants and Curses.

Hobby: I enjoy cooking, dancing, and painting.

Top practical tip for staying spiritually strong: Staying in a community that is on fire for God.

Favorite person in scripture? My favorite person in scripture is Queen Esther.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? That God can make any story beautiful, even the most ugly stories. He truly does give us beauty for ashes.

Favorite holiday? Definitely, Christmas!

A goal you have? Invest in real estate.

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: Having a pajama night and game night with a full house on Christmas Eve.

Question you will ask when you get to heaven? What was in the ocean that no one would live if they made it to the deep parts of the ocean? (I’m very curious lol)

Thing you want to raise awareness about: The importance of mental health.

What does your morning routine consist of? Prayer and devotional time, coffee, then work on whatever is planned for the day.

What is on your nightstand? Lotion, water jug, and my tv remote.
