Ariyanna W.

Today, Ariyanna speaks to us about God’s restoration and remembering the spiritual realm.

Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: Hey, y’all. I’m Yanna, I grew up in the country also known as South Georgia. Moved to Atlanta like six years ago. My childhood was wonderful, really easy-going.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: My inspiring biblical passage of the moment is Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Whenever I want to get angry or upset at a person or situation I’m always reminded that there’s a spirit behind it, and there’s so much going on in the spirit realm that we cannot see.

“Whenever I want to get angry or upset at a person or situation I’m always reminded that there’s a spirit behind it, and there’s so much going on in the spirit realm that we cannot see.”

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Staying consistent and on fire for the things of God and not allowing my busy schedule to come in between that.

Profession/Mission: Teaching.

If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be? The title would be “The Life of Yanna”.

When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter Him? I first encountered God in college, although I was raised in church, I only knew religion; I didn’t know God personally. I encountered Him on a night where I was out in an area where I wasn’t supposed to be. I heard Him tell me not to go to the kickback but I didn’t listen I still went anyways. That whole night God protected me from getting t-boned (the car in front of me should’ve been me). He protected me in spite of my disobedience. After that night nothing was the same it was like my spirit had had enough of the night life and the going out. God was calling me back to Him.

How would you describe Jesus? I would describe Jesus as the best friend you could have. The lawyer that you didn’t know you needed. An advocate, a teacher, a loving figure at the head of my life.

How has your relationship with Him changed you? A relationship without Jesus.. I would’ve been a hot mess. I was already headed in that direction he really just met me where I was and took me off that path so quick.

What has been the darkest time in your life, and how did you see God in it? The darkest time in my life was being unemployed from February to May. God restored everything that I felt that was lost; He lifted me and shifted my focus back to Him.

“God restored everything that I felt that was lost; He lifted me and shifted my focus back to Him.”

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Talking to God regardless of how bad or sad I feel has grown me the most spiritually this season.

Top three essentials: My Bible, my lipgloss, my phone.

How did God speak to you recently? He said I need to go on a fast quickly and get off social media.

Hobby: One of my hobbies is reading and eating at new places.

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: 1. Stay away from evil company.. you’re bound to get in the mess, if you’re around it. 2. Take everything before God, when you sin, when you feel bad, when you mess up… don’t abandon Him. 3. Keep your eyes and ears clean… whatever we let in is whatever will come out.

Favorite person in scripture? My favorite person in the scripture is God. That’s it.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want people to learn that God wants to have a relationship with them and that He loves them regardless of everything that they’ve done.

Favorite holiday? Valentine’s Day. I love the pink and getting dolled up it’s so cute.

Define Christianity in a sentence: If I could define Christianity it would be gaining a relationship and getting to know God.
