Vuyelwa M.

Today, Vuyelwa speaks to us about working on an estranged relationship, speaking life and how worship music has spoken to her heart.

Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: I grew up in a relatively big family my dad was my primary parent, I had different nannies, my cousins would come stay with us every now and then. My childhood was fun, I was fortunate everything I needed I had, I built so many relationships with friends and family where some are still maintained.
Inspiring biblical passage of the moment:
The Lord takes good care of His shepherds, us His children during the good and dark days. He is with us we just have to call His name and He will protect and comfort us always no matter what.
Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Growing in my knowledge and obedience to God’s Word.
Profession: I am currently a student teacher.
If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be? “You are called for a purpose”
How has your relationship with Him changed you? It has changed everything. I have got so much hope and a bright future ahead of me because I’ve got Him forever by my side.
What has been the darkest time in your life, and how did you see God in it? Growing up without a mother, I remember I resented her for leaving me for years with my father. I realised later how blessed I was to be alive, she could’ve aborted or sent me for adoption, and I would not have known my biological parents. I prayed for years that she would reach out and that I am willing to forgive her, God came through for me at the right time my mother reached out when I was doing my second year in university, and we’ve been working on our relationship ever since.
What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Faith, hope, love and gratitude has helped me grow spiritually during this season.
Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is one of the greatest life changing books I’ve read. The book has taught me so much about the law of attraction, what you say to the universe is what you get. The tongue is very powerful it can either make you or break you. As human beings we have to train our minds to think positively amongst every situation.
Top three essentials: My Bible, hair products and my phone.
How did God speak to you recently? God has spoken to me through worship music a lot recently, there’s just something about worship music that keeps me going that reassures me that everything is going to be okay, that I just have to be patient, be resilient— I’ll get back up stronger and wiser.
“There’s just something about worship music that keeps me going that reassures me that everything is going to be okay.”
Hobbies: My hobbies are creating hair, lifestyle and fun content. Reading and watching movies and series.
Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: Pray to God whether you are feeling happy or sad, invite Him in every aspect of your life before you do anything, during the process and after the process remember He is a jealous God. Speak life and serve.
“Speak life and serve.”
Favourite person in scripture? Jesus the Son of God.
What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want people to know that when they look at me God does the impossible, He is a way maker and He breaks chains.
How do you engage with your community? I engage with my community by sharing the word of God and sharing words of wisdom and encouragement of what the scripture readings mean to me with the guidance of the holy spirit in doing so. I hope to inspire someone and change someone’s life everyday by being optimistic through all circumstances.
Favourite holiday? I’ve got so many favourite holiday destinations but one I’d say that takes the cup ‘til this day is going to Sun City in the North West with my family that place is beautiful. I went to Sun City when I was 11 years old. I still reminisce the day, I wouldn’t mind going back there again and create new memories.
A goal you have: To be wise in doing so I have to learn something new every day.
Things you want to raise awareness about: Mental wellness and there is power in The Name of Jesus.
What does your morning routine consist of? My morning routine consists of me freshening up; washing my face first and brushing my teeth, listening to contemporary worship music for about 10 minutes, prayer and journaling my top 10-15 things I am grateful for before starting my day.
What is on your nightstand? On my nightstand, I have my Bible, journal, candle and my “lucky” rock which I hold when I manifest, meditate and reflect on my day.
