Today, Sara speaks to us about what her health has been teaching her, a great book for marriage preparation and how we can create beautiful lives.
Sara R.
Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: I grew up as a child of parents who worked in ministry. They did missions work, television ministry and local church evangelism. I had a happy childhood, and I learned a lot about life through my parents. I’m grateful for them.
Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: “Light dawns in the darkness for the upright.” Psalm 112:4
Profession: Lifestyle blogger and digital creator. I was trained in music and journalism all my life. I love to write about the different things I know and to inspire others with it. I also enjoy singing and playing the piano.
If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be? The Life of Sara Rozalina.
Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Trusting the Lord and remaining in an attitude of faith.
When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter Him? I encountered him when I was 5 years old. My parents told me that without God, I wouldn’t be able to go to heaven. And as a young child, I took that very seriously. I’ve grown in my faith since then, and to tell you the truth, the story is still the same. Without Jesus, we cannot be with God.
What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? I’ve been going through some health issues, and it has forced me to grow spiritually. When there are things you normally feel that you should be in control of, it’s easy to become anxious and worry. It’s a constant letting go and letting God.
“When there are things you normally feel that you should be in control of, it’s easy to become anxious and worry.”
Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): I just read Love Is a Decision by Gary Smalley. This book is on marriage, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is married or interested in getting married. It’s one of the best books on the subject and super informative on how to understand the differences between a man and a woman.
Top three essentials: Sleep, food and relationships.
How did God speak to you recently? God has led me to make some bold moves that require faith. I tend to question things a lot, but I think God is trying to do something in me that will break strongholds. I have to be obedient and do what He asks, even if I don’t know exactly why.
Hobby: Modeling for photoshoots.
Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: I believe that you need to be rooted in the Word. Meaning reading it, thinking it, and applying it in your personal life.
Second, you need to surround yourself with strong people of faith. Surround yourself with people that are better than you, stronger than you. That have spiritual and practical results that you want to see in your own life.
Third, I think you need to help others and contribute to the world. Helping someone else, whether it’s doing your job to the best of your ability, or volunteering somewhere, is one of the best ways to stay strong emotionally and spiritually.
Favorite person in scripture? Jesus. He is just the ultimate example.
What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? I want them to see a person who doesn’t compromise. A person who is choosing to be a light in the world. Choosing to be different. I’m not perfect, but I’m trying to do those things to the best of my ability. I’m a child of the Most High, and I want people to know WHOSE I am through how I live.
How do you leave your mark on your community? I try to be the best quality person that I can be and inspire others to do the same. I want to show kindness and truth in love.
Favorite holiday? Christmas.
A goal you have? A random goal of mine is to get to a gym and start working out.
A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: We love to make sure everyone gathers together for Christmas. There are so many of us, but it’s the one time, everyone tries to be there at the same time. *laughs*
Question you will ask when you get to heaven? Is this Narnia?
Thing you want to raise awareness about: I want to raise awareness that we can be people who are different. We can create beautiful lives. A beautiful life looks different for everyone. But I want to make people aware, that they have the ability to make their life look like what they want it to look like.
“We can create beautiful lives.”
What does your morning routine consist of? I wake up, drink coffee and force myself to eat breakfast.
What is on your nightstand? A picture of my husband and me, a lamp, and a Kleenex box.
