Today, Jenn speaks to us about the goal behind her blog, the importance of alone time, and how believing what we read in Scripture about God’s true character is a game changer.

Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: I grew up in Southern New Jersey in a small town outside of Philadelphia. My parents divorced when I was 7, but I remained close with both of them. I have a sister and a brother, as well as a fantastic step-father. We were raised Catholic and went to church most Sundays. My family always kept God first.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: My favorite go-to is, “She is clothed in strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:25

It reminds me how strong women are and how we must live life to the fullest without fear or regret.

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Remembering to give it all to God and not try to control situations or other people.

Profession: Regional Account Manager for The Hartford Group Benefits; self-owned Lifestyle & Fashion blog: stylemymind.com.

How do you incorporate your connection with God into your daily, secular work? I pray daily, all throughout the day and try to include God in my IG posts and blog posts. If I am having anxiety or worry, I turn to Scripture to help get me through it.

“If I am having anxiety or worry, I turn to Scripture to help get me through it.”

If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be? Faith in Fear (I already wrote an 8 part blog series on this about my life!).

When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter Him? I was younger when God was introduced to me, however, when I first really accepted Jesus Christ was after my aunt died in 2012. I felt scared and like I needed to know more. I began going to a non-denominational church, and one night I gave myself to God. My heart was racing, and I was having hot flashes but I stood up and gave it to Him; and that is when my whole life turned around.

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? In the last year, I had really bad anxiety and felt voids in my soul. The way I worked through it was through Scripture and really BELIEVING what I was reading. Believing that God wants the best for me, even if I did not see it through the darkness. Now, I carry that with me, every single day with even the smallest things.

Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): Every night, I read Joyce Myers Woman to Woman, and it seems to be just what I need every day. I read a chapter before bed, and it seems to be exactly what I was going through that day. They are lessons we go through as people on a daily basis and how to incorporate God’s word into them.

Top three essentials: Scripture, laptop to write, skincare.

How did God speak to you recently? He has helped me speak faith into a friend, and reminded me to take time for myself to be alone and work on my relationship with Him. Sometimes, we forget to do this with our fast-paced lives, so He has forced me to be alone for a few days to learn to reconnect with Him.

Hobby: Writing, reading, running, shopping, traveling.

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: Keep it in practice daily. We sometimes let life get in the way but we should be spending most time of the day with God.

Favorite person in scripture? Moses.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? That I am a mess, and He still loves me. I have made so many mistakes, but I truly believe that God forgives and loves me.

How do you leave your mark on your community? I use my blog platform to reach believers, and hopefully non-believers, so they hear my story and others’ story as well and understand the glory of God.

Favorite holiday? Christmas. Obsessed with Christmas.

A goal you have? To inspire others from my blog platform to stay motivated and positive throughout life’s trials.

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: Well, I don’t live close to my family anymore so we don’t have much of a tradition, but they do come to visit me twice a year in Florida.

Question you will ask when you get to heaven? How come so many good people were taken so soon?

Thing you want to raise awareness about: Colon cancer and the importance of what you put in and on your body. My friend passed away from a polyp she did not know about that turned into cancer, I want everyone to put their health first and consider what you are using on the regular.

“My friend passed away from a polyp she did not know about that turned into cancer, I want everyone to put their health first and consider what you are using on the regular.”

What does your morning routine consist of? Prayer, read Bible passage, bathroom routine, take my dog out and head to work. I do most of my prayer at night, which is kind of weird I know I should start my day more with God, but I do like to lay, read and reflect at night.

What is on your nightstand? Water, Bible, Joyce Myer book.

Define Christianity in a sentence: Belief in what is not seen; and faith in what has not happened, yet.
