MW: How do you focus on Jesus during this busy time of the year?

@april.m.payne: I’ve been trying to NOTICE what we are doing, now that I have a child who really gets and understands all the Christmas traditions. I think what’s made the most impact on this season is taking the time to explain what the carols are saying, how gifts are representations of the gifts brought to baby Jesus, and how the whole point of Christmas is about Jesus birthday. Being intentional about putting traditions and the fun, shiny things into context with the birth of Jesus has opened conversations about angels, Jesus as a man, and the Holy Spirit – things I haven’t really been able to make any real sense of for my 3 year old. Being intentional about explaining the traditions has made all the difference this year and has allowed me to tangibly present the truth of the gospel to my children!
