Hannah D.

Today, straight from the UAE, our sister Hannah speaks to us about consistency, how other bloggers have inspired her in her walk, and a reminder to be thankful, as God does something good in the process.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: “What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar.” Romans 3: 3- 4

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: My spiritual growth focus at the moment is consistency. I want to consistently trust God whatever comes my way.

Profession: I’m a student, spending most of my time on my blog.

A one sentence bio of yourself: An average girl trying to see the light even in the darkest of days.

When did you first encounter God? I first encountered God when I was a child; told to memorize Bible verses and taught what was wrong from right. That foundation stuck with me all through adulthood, even when I didn’t always understand what was happening.

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Engaging myself with other Christian bloggers, reading their posts on Instagram and reading their blogs. The write-ups about their struggles and how they overcome it with God by their side always encourages me to continue moving forward  — in whatever aspect of life that is.

Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): I just read my devotional plan on Youversion. It’s by Joyce Meyer entitled: Promises for Your Everyday Life. The lesson I have learned from my latest read is that we can never really find real love apart from God.

“We can never really find real love apart from God.”

Top three essentials: Lip balm, phone, and hair tie! I always like to have a hair tie ready in case my hair needs some tidying, and of course, who would want chapped lips?

My phone is just as important, too!

How did God speak to you recently? He spoke to me recently via an Instagram story by one of my favorite bloggers. I felt like I was being reminded to still be thankful because God is already doing something good in the process.

“I was being reminded to still be thankful because God is already doing something good in the process.”

Hobby: My favorite hobby is either to write, scroll through my Instagram, or watch random TV shows/Facebook videos.

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong:

  1. Involve God in every aspect of your life. Don’t ever leave Him out!
  2. Thank Him even when you feel like there is nothing to thank Him for. The moment you breathe is something you can always be thankful for.
  3. Know Him more through reading His word, getting a devotional plan or just engaging with other Christians.

Favorite person in scripture? My favorite person in the scripture is Hannah, not only because we have the same name, but also because I want to pray like her, and basically have the same faith in God just as she had.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? God is the one thing that’s constant in life. He never changes, and His promises for us never fail.

Favorite season? Winter. I love that I can do almost anything during winter here in the UAE, unlike the summer where sweat never leaves me, and mostly leaves me feeling uncomfortable and lazy to do things I am supposed to do.

Favorite holiday? Christmas is my favorite holiday because obviously, enemies turn into friends even just for a short while, and also, because I love family get-togethers!

A dream you have? One dream that I have is to be able to put up a shelter for stray cats and dogs who have no decent place to live in and a family to care for them.

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: I can’t remember a special tradition that my family keeps or engages in, but we make sure to have family prayers every night.

Question you will ask when you get to heaven? To be really honest, a question I’d ask when I get to heaven would be: Why did it take so long for me to get back on track with everything when the years of “hardship” could’ve been made shorter?

Thing you want to raise awareness about: I want to raise awareness on churches that primarily focus on entertainment for their attendees rather than keeping Jesus central.

What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? The thing I usually do before 9 am is to basically take to mind the things I am supposed to get done during the day, and eventually plan out things for my blog.

What is on your nightstand? The things on my nightstand are my two Bibles, two journals, my eyeglass case, earphones, and an organizer with pens, my thanks-living jar, and a lot of notes on random papers.

Define Christianity in a sentence: Christianity is about imperfect people knowing they’re imperfect and in need of a perfect God who offers perfect love, on a daily basis.
