Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: Lamentations 2:22-26 because even in the most difficult times, when you think that God has completely forsaken you, there is one thing that will remain forever constant– His love will never end.
Spiritual growth focus at the moment: To rest in the knowledge of God’s love.
Profession: Insurance broker for life and disability.
A one sentence bio of yourself: Love to travel, play volleyball, sing, fellowship and work hard.
When did you first encounter God? I was born in a Christian family, so I always heard about God and went to church and prayed – believing in the God of my parents. For me, when I personally met Jesus was after I got into a second car accident and thought I died. I was lying still with my eyes wide open, but I couldn’t see a single thing. I thought to myself “Is this what being dead feels like? It’s so empty; I am so alone.” I kept trying to search for some light or at least someone I could talk to, but it was the darkest type of black you can imagine; it was empty and lonely and cold and you’re just left with yourself and your thoughts. I screamed help from the top of my lungs and came to conciseness. After that weekend, everything inside of me changed… I knew I didn’t want to be anywhere near that type of darkness ever again.
“For me, when I personally met Jesus was after I got into a second car accident and thought I died.”
What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Definitely fellowship with the right people and accountability to my closest friends.
Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): Romans 8:39… I am astounded at the magnitude of God’s love to us; nothing can separate us from that.
Top three essentials: I love cheese… specifically aged cheddar or gouda, good volleyball game is a great essential and anyone who can play an instrument, pop a beat or sing, is definitely essential, but if we’re asking seriously, then top three essentials in life are trust between friends and family, unfailing faith in God and love thy neighbor.
How did God speak to you recently? I was driving to work the other day, jamming to a song called Bones by Joshua Moss. When the song was over, I was so inspired by the lyrics, I had tears rolling down my face, and in that moment, I realized God was speaking words of love and encouragement to me through a song! It humbled me so much to know that through something so little God is still working on me.
Hobby: Singing, volleyball, reading.
Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: 1) Start your day with a smile, not because something good happened but because you’re alive; 2) make it your mission to speak words of love into someone life every single day– it gives you a purpose and encourages you in the goodness of God; 3) As the day dawns, pray, as the word instructs; Do, as the worship binds; be involved.
“Start your day with a smile, not because something good happened but because you’re alive”
Favorite person in scripture? Apostle Paul, if we’re talking New Testament because he is so sincere and passionate for the truth, and Daniel, if we’re talking Old Testament because he is just a prayer warrior and had unfailing faith in the Father.
What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? That God is love and only He defines joy, and there is nothing that can change that because God never changes.
“Only He defines joy”
Favorite season? Summer because volleyball, smoothies and late warm nights!
Favorite holiday? It has gotta be Easter; there is so much freedom in acknowledging what Christ did on the cross and the victory that we have through that.
A dream you have? When I get married one day, to go on a missionary trip with my husband.
A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: Whenever my family starts singing together we automatically start to harmonize and go into this whole choir mode… completely unnecessary but so darn beautiful.
“Completely unnecessary but so darn beautiful.”
Question you will ask when you get to heaven? I’ll probably ask Him to clarify the whole “ predestination” question that we will never be able to answer here on Earth.
Thing you want to raise awareness about: Supporting orphans globally because not only are these numbers staggeringly high and they need all the love, support and education they can get but, we need to reach out to them to let them know they do have a Daddy who is watching out for them!
What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? A double shot espresso, and I’m currently listening to the Vital Truth Series by Jim Cymbala. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church have this awesome app where you can stream offline and 30 minute powerful messages that everyone should listen to in their lifetime!
What is on your nightstand? My notebook for those deep late night thoughts, pen, Bible, lotion and watch.
Define Christianity in a sentence: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever shall believe in Him, will not perish but have eternal life.
Until next time, keep witnessing!
