Today, Katie shares with us thoughts on running time being worship time, how she is studying Jesus’ role in the Trinity, and how divorce is not always the answer.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: Song of Solomon 2:10-12. This verse is so special to me and has meant different things in different seasons. This season, the intimacy of the words “my darling” are a reminder of how loved I am by the Lord.
Spiritual growth focus at the moment: I have decided that I am going to focus on getting to know Jesus’ character more this year. I am reading books focused on Jesus’s ministry and His role in the Trinity.
Profession: I am a server.
A one sentence bio of yourself: A lost sheep that tried to run away and hide from her Shepherd, but He refused to give up on her.
When did you first encounter God? I became a Christian (said the prayer) when I was five years old. I remember being SO excited and not being able to contain my joy!! I said the prayer all alone in my bed one night, and I knew my life was different because of it, even at that young age.
What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? Solitude in nature. Breathing in the crisp air and listening to the sounds of nature. It makes me realize how intricate creation is and how big our Creator must be.
Just read/currently reading: Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge.
Top three essentials: Coffee, quiet time, running.
How did God speak to you recently? I realized the other day that God speaks to me while I’m running. It’s worship time for me, and God is always giving me words while I’m out there.
“God speaks to me while I’m running.”
Hobby: I love art! Doodling some cute flowers, wreaths or ribbons is a way for me to zone out.
Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: 1) Study God’s word regardless of how you feel. 2) Surround yourself with Christian influence. 3) Guard what you are putting into your mind (music, movies, friends chatter).
Favorite person in scripture? I have a tattoo of a bee that someone told me was linked to the name Deborah. In the Bible, Deborah is the only female judge and she lead an army into war. There’s not too much detail about her, but I to say I admire her is an understatement!
What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? That God’s grace and mercy will overcome the impossible and to NOT give up praying for your lost ones. He loves them so much, He’s chasing them down!! I know, I was once in their shoes.
Favorite season? I love summer! Swimming at the lake, reading on a towel, getting a tan— I can’t get enough of it!
Favorite holiday? Christmas is such a beautiful holiday! I love the smells of baking and the Christmas tree, having big family dinners.
A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: Our family has a tradition of doing skeet shooting at Christmas; I love it!
Question you will ask when you get to heaven? I can’t wait to ask God to show me snapshots of every time He saved me from something. I imagine there’s lots of times where I was saved from harm, and I know I will be blown away by what He shows me.
Thing you want to raise awareness about: Divorce isn’t the only option after separation. So many people think that since their spouse is pushing for divorce, that’s the only option. But even after divorce, I believe that God wants us to fight for that soul connection we made a covenant to hold to.
“Divorce isn’t the only option after separation.”
What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? I’m usually up pretty early, having coffee, sitting in my favorite chair, reading, drawing or catching up on social media. I make sure I have God time before every day starts.
What is on your nightstand? Right now?! Oh man… chips, chocolate, a cup of tea, my earbuds and tons of pens.
Define Christianity in a sentence: An intimate, personal and soul-filling connection with our loving God.
