Marissa and Bec K. (Twice Blessed)

I am so excited to introduce to you Marissa and Bec K., from Twice Blessed. Gorgeous, smart and kind— they are influencers and ambassadors. They were gracious enough to share about themselves and squeeze us into their busy schedule, and today, they talk to us about how God keeps His word, the power of the name of Jesus, their passion for property, and how they want women to understand their worth and value.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: Remembering that what God says will happen, will always happen.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 NIV)

“Remembering that what God says will happen, will always happen.”

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Getting into the Word of God, daily, rather than whenever we can. As we get older, we’re realizing, more and more, how important it is for us to be equipped with the Word of God and filled daily by His Spirit.

Profession: Full-time fashion and lifestyle bloggers and social media marketing professionals. We have a digital agency called TB Digital, which we also work on full-time.

A one sentence bio of yourself: Identical twins from Melbourne Australia, passionate about people (especially women) understanding their worth and value in Christ and expressing their love for life through fashion.

When did you first encounter God?

Marissa: I would have a lot of nightmares (or spiritual attacks, I can see now that I’m older) when I was younger, and my mum told me that when it happened next time, to cry out, “Jesus, save me!” Sure enough, the following night, I had another nightmare, I screamed out in my dream and instantly woke up. I think I was more terrified that I woke up, than of the nightmare itself. It made me realize the power of the name of Jesus. That even whilst I slept, with no control over my body or anything, His name was powerful enough to rescue me.

“His name was powerful enough to rescue me.”

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? As we spend so much of our day on social media, it has really helped us spiritually this season following spiritual/godly accounts. Our favorite is Soul Scripts, amazing daily reminders of God’s love and grace and a huge community of like-minded God fearing women!

Just read/currently reading: Neither of us are big book readers, actually (although we’d like to be), but Marissa just finished reading the Chronicles of Narnia books, again! We both love them so much.

Top three essentials: For us, it’s always a bottle of water, because we have an obsession with having enough water to drink, chewing gum and each other. *laughing*

How did God speak to you recently? God doesn’t tend to speak to us frequently in those ‘BIG MOMENTS,’ but in the day-to-day whisper. Yesterday, I (Marissa) was driving home from church and God prompted me to drive to a suburb close to my house and pray over it, and pray for provision to buy a home in that area. It was a bit random, but when God tells you to do something, you just do it because you know it’s a) strengthening your faith and obedience to Him and b) probably going to be something significant for you/another person.

“[I]t was a bit random, but when God tells you to do something, you just do it–“

Hobby: We both LOVE looking at homes for auction. It’s so strange but when we were little, our family would have ‘family outings’ visiting properties that were Open for Inspection, look around the house and talk about what we would change. Break walls down here, adding a room there– it sparked our love for period homes and makes us so excited to (hopefully soon), buy a home of our own!

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong:

#1 WORSHIP. It doesn’t matter what worship looks like to you, just do it. The gateway to God’s throne room is worship, (enter His gates with thanksgiving) so if you want to be close to God, get worshiping. For us, it also breaks down so much of life’s business and clutter that builds up in our hearts and flushes it all clean, so it can be just God and us.

#2 PRAYER. Not saying you need to kneel down by your bed and spend hours praying, just speak to God. That could be your internal monologue, or through the Spirit or an intentional prayer. But we’ve realized, we feel the closest to God when we’re keeping our communication with Him going. Much like your best girlfriend, if you’re talking often, you’ll feel closer to each other.

#3 COMMUNITY. Getting around other women who edify, encourage and pour into your life will boost you up when you’re feeling down. Also, being able to edify, encourage and pour into others is one of the best ways to reaffirm your faith and draw out what God has instilled into you.

“[B]eing able to edify, encourage and pour into others is one of the best ways to reaffirm your faith and draw out what God has instilled into you.”

Favorite person in scripture? The Apostle Paul. His transformation was so radical that it shows us that no one is too far away for God to reach, and alongside that, his ministry was so profound; it shows us that God will use anyone who is willing and devoted to His cause.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? God’s unlimited and genuine love for others. God has really allowed us to see people through His eyes and allows us to understand how His grace really works.

Favorite season? Summer for the weather, but winter for the fashion! It’s so hard to look fashionable in summer!

Favorite holiday? Easter because we always have the best food (lucky for us being Greek!).

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: We don’t have many traditions in our family, except we (almost every night) eat dinner together at the table and chat about our day. It’s something small, but something we’re very grateful to have as a regular occurrence at home.

Question you will ask when you get to heaven? Did we do enough? We already know the answer to that question from God, because He is gracious and loving. But we don’t want to get to heaven and feel like there was more of us God could have used. We want to have our last breath, knowing we did everything God called us to do, with every fiber of our being.

Thing you want to raise awareness about: Women understanding their worth and value. It doesn’t really matter what context that is in (through missions – outreach, sex trafficking, or through the Western world’s obsession with being ‘better’ because of social media). It’s something Bec and I want to share more about.

What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? We wake up naturally (no alarm!) around 8 a.m. every morning, catch up with news/emails on our phones and make our first coffee!

What is on your nightstand? Bible, lip balm, water and phone!

Define Christianity in a sentence: The most exciting journey of growth, challenges and fulfilment you will ever go on, with your best friend and biggest support (ie – Jesus).
