Amy W.

I know some pretty amazing women. These women are driven, filled with faith, and I feel there is so much we can learn from each one and her personal journey. These church ladies break all molds and reflect God beautifully in so many different ways.
Today, I am excited to be introducing you to Amy. On Modern Witnesses, she shares with us her experience of finding God, how enthralled she is with Hosea, motherhood, a relationship she thinks is underrated in the Bible, and Christmas Eve traditions. (There are some great resources linked, below!)

Biblical inspiration of the moment: “Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us. He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him. So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth.” (Hosea 6:1-3)
“He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth.”
Spiritual growth focus, at the moment: Discovering more and more what it means to be a Christ-like wife and mother, who is full of selflessness
Profession: Wife, Mama, and Nanny.
One sentence bio: I am a 24-year-old wife and mom who loves Jesus, holistic health, anything artsy, tea, animals, and the great outdoors.
When did you first encounter God? I first encountered God at home, at a very young age. I remember admiring the way my parents where so in love with God and serving Him at Church. I was always in some sort of Christian environment my entire life, but I finally understood that Jesus loved me in high school, when I was battling depression.
“I finally understood that Jesus loved me in high school, when I was battling depression.”
What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? All the present trials I am persevering through are helping me to grow in my spiritual walk with Christ. I am depending on Him and praying more than ever. Prayer has been such a blessing and of great help.
Currently reading: Hosea, and it rocked my world, as always. Also, reading Deeply Rooted Magazine‘s recent issue: Wisdom. Honestly, I haven’t been reading much these days, because #newmomlife. But, I like listening to the Bible on Audible.

Top three essentials: My iPhone, coconut oil, and Klean Kanteen water bottle– can’t live without cold water!
How has God spoken to you recently? Through music. I have been listening to Hillsong’s latest album, Wonder, on repeat, and I cannot stop. It is full of truth and scripture, which reminds my heart that God has me no matter what.
“…God has me no matter what.”
A hobby? Water color painting, hiking, taking Polaroids, and creating pretty much anything.
Top three tips for staying spiritually strong:
1. Get disciplined, which could be reading something regularly out of the Bible or a devotional.
2. Be in constant communication with Jesus, through prayer, as if He were walking right beside you every day.
3. Figure out what makes you feel closest to Jesus and do it often. My outlets are: singing to Him and being outside, admiring His creation.
Favorite person in scripture: Probably Timothy and Paul because their relationship is so underrated. Timothy was rejected, but so loved by Paul in the way that Jesus loves us, and I think it’s so beautiful and inspiring.
“Timothy was rejected, but so loved by Paul in the way that Jesus loves us…”
What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? That He loves me because I am imperfectly perfect. I have flaws, I don’t have it together, but I have Jesus, and He holds me together. I want people to know that He can love you so fiercely that you don’t need to do anything to gain His love, because His grace overflows for you.
“He can love you so fiercely that you don’t need to do anything to gain His love”
Favorite season: Winter is my favorite season, hands down.
Favorite holiday: Christmas.
A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: We dress up and have a feast on Christmas Eve; we play games, and open presents at midnight, and there’s usually a dance party at some point in the evening.
Question you will ask when you get to heaven: “Hey, God, can you playback that one time you created the universe?”
Thing you want to raise awareness about: Veganism, depression/anxiety, and the realities of motherhood.
What do you usually do before 9 a.m. (Mon- Fri)? Nap with my baby boy.
On your nightstand? My diffuser, essential oils, alarm clock, and water bottle.
