MW: How do you keep your heart centered on Christ during this Christmas season?

AM: During the past years of the Christmas season, I have struggled to not fall into the modernization of the season and completely lose myself in buying gifts, being in awe of the materialization of lights, and the business that comes at the end of December when Christmas Eve and Christmas Day approaches.

I believe this is a struggle that most humans wrestle with when November and December roll around on the calendar! So, not being alone in this, I want to share what keeps my heart in check in hopes of helping you during the holiday season.

As a gentle reminder, Christmas is supposed to be solely about Jesus Christ and His birth which brought the gift of salvation in the form of a baby. The first thing I do is just physically “STOP” and have a moment to seek my heart and see if my intentions are right going into the next days going forward.

Then, I find Christian accountability through devotionals, the Bible App, and online videos that lay out the Christmas story to remind me and teach me more about the special days leading to the Lord’s arrival and then the days that followed.

These two actions have led me to pure joyfulness during the hustle and bustle, and they have ultimately been what has kept my heart anticipating the Savior’s coming and my eyes on Him. It is my hope and prayer that you are so focused on Christ during this Christmas season that you can experience the full joy and peace that He offers, even in the midst of the craziness!
