Tell us a bit about how you grew up and your childhood: I grew up in a small town in the Gulf Coast of Texas. My family made a big effort to make sure my life was fully encompassed and centered around Christ. We were heavily involved in our local church in almost every way possible. My mom, Tina, likes to tell the story of her serving food on Wednesday night meals with me in a wrap on her back at six months old, such a testament to her involvement. She is such a fabulous woman of God and she and my dad, Ray, showed me how to live it out, from day one. My MimiAnn and my Aunt Jana were also huge impacts in my walk with Christ, always there for wisdom (and still are) as well as prepped with challenge straight from the Bible.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment/Just read/currently reading (and what has it taught you?): I just finished a book of poems by my old youth pastor, mentor, friend, and honestly another father to me (he has a lot of titles) called, “Re-Created”, by J. Novis Elkins. This book was so wonderful as it walked you through the book of John in a whole other way as you read the book of John first (chapter by chapter), and then you read the poems alongside it, and it gives you another outlook to something you feel as though you have heard a hundred times. So many principles in this book of the Bible!

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: One of my focuses has been, and will probably be for a lifetime as its so important and so hard to grasp, is learning to find the joy of Christ’s presence. That is my simple prayer and thought as it holds so much. I ask God to teach me the joy of His presence, this touches on how I act and think and work as that little reminder resets your focus. Is it bringing glory to God, will it bring me closer to His presence where I can find true joy?

Profession: I am a wedding planner in Houston, Texas! My husband and myself opened Loose Ends Event Design in 2013. We focus on creating lasting relationships and gorgeous botanical events. We try and remind our couples that at the end of the day their wedding should be about bringing two people together as one for a lifetime and not about how big or extravagant the event is.

When did you first encounter God and how did you encounter Him? My earliest, earliest memory is being in a car seat in the back of our van on the way back from church and asking my mom to pull over as I had questions about Jesus that I had learned in church. I remember devoting myself to Christ at D-Now in the seventh grade, right after John became our youth pastor.

I said I was going to wait to date until I knew it was the man I was going to marry to date. My first encounter with the Holy Spirit was at youth camp (so typical right) at Pineywoods. I felt so overwhelming touched and emotional, and I remember two of the sweetest gals from my church praying over me, and one of them spending the rest of the night talking to me about how to be a Christian woman of faith and dignity. Also, how that looked like in day to day terms. I have been so blessed to be touched by so many fabulous people in my life, God is truly so good.

Hobby: My husband, Tim, and I love to travel! Together (in order) we have been to Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, Chicago, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Mexico, New Orleans, Paris France, London England, Brighton England, San Francisco, Sausalito, Sonoma, Napa, Yosemite, Scottsdale, places all over Texas, Denver, 30A Florida, and this August we will be going to Italy! We love experiencing culture and trying new foods (true foodies).

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong: One, stay in the word seems too simple, but it’s so important! Fill your mind up with what matters. Two, surround yourself with a good community that both challenges and feeds you while also loving on you and being present when you need someone. Three, start and end each day with a reset on your mind. Say what you are thankful for and tell God of all the wonders He’s done in your life, always start prayer with thanksgiving.

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you/what do you want to raise awareness about? In short, that God is love. He didn’t just create it, He doesn’t just give it and teach it, but He is in fact love. As a Christian, I want to always start with showing God’s love. Its not that simple in totality, but at first impressions and first glimpse that is what I want to show. I want people to see that God isn’t hate or anger, He is just and He has rules just like any parent does, but He loves us and wants us to be His. He came down to us to die in our place. He continues to humble Himself by meeting us where we are in the muck and the mire and picks us up and carries us out of our sin and shame. He is a God of love and forgiveness, and that’s what I want to show daily.

Favorite holiday: I have to say it’s a close tie with my birthday and Christmas, but I love the holidays and how everyone is so kind and warm (inside anyways). I love anything involving decor and traditions as well, so it’s pretty perfect!

What does your morning routine consist of? Take care of my hubby before he heads out for work, get ready for PureBarre, have a cup of coffee and answer emails, take our mini schnauzer outside, and head out for PureBarre. Run errands and then have my breakfast while I check socials. Do my Bible study and then get ready for the day. Clean and pick up our home and get dinner started/prepped. Then I, “clock in”, to work. Finish calls, emails, and texts and then work off of our weekly checklist until meetings and/or time to make dinner. Then, we take our puppy out again to walk and play, and then we either read, talk a bath, or watch a TV show together!

Define Christianity in a sentence: Showing people Christ by telling and living out the example of Him daily.
