A.K.

I know some pretty amazing women. These women are driven, filled with faith, and I feel there is so much we can learn from each one and her personal journey. These church ladies break all molds and reflect God beautifully in so many different ways.

Today, it is my pleasure to introduce you to A.K. She is a writer, perhaps one of the most reblogged on Tumblr, in Christian circles. On Modern Witnesses, she speaks to us about the importance of silence before God, being authentic and upholding truth.

A.K.

Inspiring biblical passage of the moment: “For God alone, Oh my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him.” (Psalm 62:5) I have a hard time trusting in God and waiting in silence for His voice. This verse is an excellent reminder of where my hope comes from and how I can get to know Him.

Spiritual growth focus at the moment: Being unafraid to speak truth into a world where truth is relative.

“Being unafraid to speak truth…”

Profession: I am a college student (junior).

A one sentence bio of yourself: I am a twenty-year-old writer, follower of Christ, and a servant.

When did you first encounter God? I was raised in a Christian household, but I most distinctly encountered God when I entered college.

What has helped you grow spiritually in this season? My parents and the Bible.

Just read/currently reading: I am currently reading Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine and Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

Top three essentials: Lip balm (EOS, mint flavor is my favorite), laptop, earbuds.

How did God speak to you recently? He was clear in my struggle with sin and pulling it out from the darkness and shedding light on it. It took a lot of courage, but I was able to reach out to my parents and confess. God constantly encourages me to be authentic and honest in my struggles.

“God constantly encourages me to be authentic and honest in my struggles.”

Hobby: Writing!

Top three practical tips for staying spiritually strong:

The first is to keep in the Word.

Second, surround yourself with friends/family that will encourage you in your faith, and three is to speak to God, consistently. Talk to Him throughout your day, about the good and the bad.

Favorite person in scripture? Probably Paul or David. Both of these men went through so much and sinned greatly, yet they praised and served Christ with every fiber of their being. I am inspired by that. Also, both were incredible writers, and I aspire to write about God like they did!

“Both of these men went through so much and sinned greatly, yet they praised and served Christ with every fiber of their being. I am inspired by that.”

What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? His compassion for His people and His justice.

Favorite season? Autumn!

Favorite holiday? Christmas/Easter

A special tradition you and your family engage in or keep: We always have friends and family over on Christmas Eve because it’s my mother’s birthday. We have prime rib and watch The Polar Express.

Question you will ask when you get to heaven? “Why did you choose me to bear this?”

“Why did you choose me to bear this?”

Thing you want to raise awareness about? Pro-life issues, immigrants and refugees, and the impoverished.

What do you usually do before 9 a.m.? If I am not asleep (I am a night owl, not a morning person), I am probably eating breakfast.

What is on your nightstand? I don’t have a nightstand, but if I did, I would have a water bottle, book, lip balm, and a candle!
